A remake of the 80’s classic, “Red Dawn” is the story of a group of plucky teenagers who become known as the Wolverines and form an impromptu insurgency when their hometown is invaded by Chinese and Russian soldiers. Erica is the head cheerleader and the girlfriend of Matt, who hopes to spring her from an internment camp.
The film was originally set for release on November 24th 2010, but earlier in that year the studio producing the film, MGM, ran out of money and therefore were unable to promote or release the film at that time. In early January 2011 MGM received a $500 million line credit from JPMorgan and hopes are now raised for a release date late in 2011. The film is complete (bar the soundtrack, according to some reports), it just needs to be promoted and released.
As of October 2011 the film has a studio (FilmDistrict) and reports suggest they will release the film in 2012. Most recent reports give the release date as sometime in March 2012.

• Isabel is reunited with her Home & Away co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Jason Smith in this movie, with Chris taking a leading role.
• Isabel met Tom Cruise on the set, who was visiting his son Connor. Isabel says he was very generous with his time and visited a lot. He even took them to a football game, where they sat in a box up top.
• In March 2011 it was announced that the studio were spending $1m to change the villains of the film from Chinese to North Korean. All – or as many as possible – references to China are to be digitally removed and replaced with North Korea. One of the producers said they believed this would make it “a scarier, smarter and more dangerous ‘Red Dawn’ that we believe improves the movie”. In response to criticism that an invasion of American by North Korea wasn’t plausible or believeable, producer Tripp Vinson said that they consulted with “military think tanks” on that possibility, and that they “listened well” to those experts.
» Isabel Lucas – “It was really cool because it was a younger cast, and there was a lot of vibrancy. Especially from Connor Cruise, who’s so enthused all the time.”
» Isabel Lucas – “The experience of Transformers, or even Red Dawn, which we just shot in Michigan, they’re both very visual films and it wasn’t so much about the character story, it’s like a massive commercial.”
» Isabel Lucas – “I’ve heard it’s amazing but I haven’t seen the finished product yet. We were doing boot camps and martial-arts training, learning to use different weaponry in the cold Detroit winter. It’s classic action. When you’re an actor, when opportunities come up, you go with the flow. You jump.” (Speaking in March 2011)
